Iwan Kurniawan covers international issues along with a plethora of topics such as politics, science, and art.

He manages the Opinion section and is a literary curator for Koran Tempo and co-founder of the Yayasan Multimedia Sastra foundation.

The Gadjah Mada University alumnus wrote three books: Semiologi Roland Bhartes (2001) and Isu-isu Internasional Dewasa Ini: Dari Perang, Hak Asasi Manusia, hingga Pemanasan Global (2008), and Empat Menyemai Gambut: Praktik-praktik Revitalisasi Ekonomi di Desa Peduli Gambut (Kemitraan Partnership, 2020).
