Fuad Rahmany:
The control system is still weak

THE Directorate General of Taxes was in a state of confusion when Ahmad Fuad Rahmany was appointed to lead it. The Gayus Tambunan and Bahasyim cases—tax officials who could be likened to a female animal devouring her young—seriously tainted the image of this institution and its staff. Fuad Rahmany is quite aware of the public’s disdain towards the institution he inherited. “I know people see us as a rotten organization,” he said.
