Rini’s Deal

Tuesday, July 11 2017 00:00 WIB

RINI Soemarno had little to say when meeting Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) Chairman Moermahadi Soerja Djanegara during the open house event on the Idul Fitri holiday at the State Palace end of June. "I conveyed holiday greetings to Ibu Rini. But then the conversation fell silent," said Moermahadi at the Tempo office in Jakarta on Thursday last week. This is very unusual, Moermahadi noted, since he usually has long conversations with the minister whenever they meet.

Moermahadi then approached BNI CEO Achmad Baiquni, who was also present at the Palace event. "Why is Bu Rini uncomfortable with me? This (the contract extension process for the Jakarta International Container Terminal) did not occur under Bu Rini’s term of office," said Moermahadi. "No, that happened during her term," replied Baiquni as retold by Moermahadi.

Rini’s Deal
The Supreme Audit Agency found losses incurred from a contract extension of Jakarta container terminal’s management. Minister of State-Owned Enterprises Rini Soemarno was blamed for approving the contract.
