New Ammo for an Old Target

A month after an investigative audit on Pelabuhan Indonesia (Pelindo) II was turned over by the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK), the House of Representatives (DPR) has yet to take any political stance. As of Thursday last week, the DPR’s Special Committee on Pelindo II had not held any meetings to respond to the audit findings. "This should automatically be turned over to law enforcement," said Pelindo II Special Committee Vice Chairman Aziz Syamsuddin, on Thursday last week.

The DPR’s languid response to follow up on the findings of the BPK is puzzling, as the audit was made upon the request of the DPR’s Pelindo II Special Committee on February 16, 2016. The letter requesting the audit was personally delivered by the Special Committee Chairperson Rieke Diah Pitaloka to the then BPK Chairman, former Golkar politician Harry Azhar Azis.

DPR politicians asked the KPK to intervene by following up on an audit conducted by the BPK.
