Andika Perkasa joined 134 other members of the Special Forces Command (Kopassus) to take part in a selection for Project Charlie in mid-1988. After undergoing grueling physical and mental training, Andika was selected one of 35 personnel attaining the qualification medal for counterterrorism in January 1989.
