Police in the Corn Fields

President Prabowo Subianto ordered the police to take part in the food security program by planting corn. The police distribute seeds and partner with farmers, but the effort faces the risk of crop failure. In several regions, police are suspected of manipulating records of corn production.

SPREAD across three hectares, a field in the hills of Selopamioro village, Imogiri subdistrict, Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta, lies covered with nets to trap pests. On the land located directly behind the Yogyakarta Police School (SPN), corn shoots are beginning to emerge from the soil. Among the corn plants stand cassava trees and peanut crops.
