THREE months after Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang’s visit to Jakarta, where both governments agreed to study the Jakarta-Surabaya high-speed train, little progress has been made. Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) confirmed that the project is still in the preliminary feasibility stage. “It is still under review,” said KCIC’s Corporate Secretary General Manager, Eva Chairunisa, on Wednesday, August 27, 2025.
