Hundreds of containers of Indonesian shrimp were returned from the United States after being found to contain radioactive material. The government insists they are still safe to eat.

A CONTAINER carrying 15 tons of frozen vannamei shrimp arrived at Tanjung Priok Port in North Jakarta on Friday, September 26, 2025. The shipment, owned by Bahari Makmur Sejati (BMS), was sent back from the Port of Los Angeles, United States, after the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) detected traces of radioactive contamination of cesium-137 in July 2025.
