The Controversial Article in the Judicial Positions Bill

Several provisions in the Judicial Positions Bill have sparked controversy. The retirement age of Supreme Court justices is to be extended.

IT began when the Supreme Court (MA) proposed deliberations on two new legislative products to Commission III of the House of Representatives (DPR), which oversees legal affairs, in April 2025. The first was the Judicial Position Bill, and the second was the Contempt of Court Bill.

The proposal was delivered directly by Yasardin, Chair of the Indonesian Judges Association (Ikahi), to Habiburokhman, Chair of Commission III, during an event.
