Comedian Hamid Arief

THIS letter was written three days after A. Hamid Arief’s birthday, November 25. Perhaps many of us have forgotten him, but to me he remains unforgettable as an irresistibly funny comic. Buaye Gile (1974) and Biang Kerok (1972) are among his films. In those films, A. Hamid Arief often squared off against Benyamin Sueb. He was born on November 25, 1924, in Betawi. Had he lived, he would have been 101 this year.
