THE threats facing Indonesia’s economy are not confined to the war now raging in the Middle East. At home, the government is confronting a challenge no less serious: it is becoming increasingly difficult to raise debt.

The signs are most visible in the market for government bonds. The situation may not yet be critical, but the warning lights are beginning to flash.
