TOWARD the end of September, Johana Sunarti Gondokusumo would often gather her grandchildren. At her home on Jalan Teuku Umar 40, Menteng, Central Jakarta, the wife of Abdul Haris Nasution retold the harrowing night she had lived through on September 30, 1965. Eka Trisny Edyanti Nurdin, one of Sunarti’s granddaughters, was just 12 years old when she first heard the story.
