The Maldives is one of the countries that are most adversely affected by climate change. Currently, about 80 percent of the country’s 1,190 islands are just about one meter or less above sea level, around 90 percent of the islands have reported flooding, 97 percent have shoreline erosion, and 64 percent suffer serial erosion.
