THE two-tiered pyramidal roofs stoop low, providing shade on the terrace. Located in the crowded market area of Tanah Abang in Central Jakarta, the building does not stand out. In fact it does not look like an ordinary mosque. Except for the crescent and star symbol on the rooftop, it has no other signs to identify it as a mosque. The interior, too, is but a spacious prayer hall, unfettered by columns commonly found in a traditional mosque.
