Silent Poetry
In his exhibition Kata, Gambar (Words, Images), Goenawan Mohamad does not use lines and brush strokes to recreate the atmosphere of a particular temporal spaceI found no markers of time. In one of his works entitled 1950s Ondel-Ondel, even the giant puppets manipulated by humans inside do not seem to relate to the era mentioned in the title. As far as one can see, the objects are just a pair of ondel-ondel, from who knows where or when.
