Threatened At Home

Thousands of ethnic Rohingya citizens are still trapped in Rakhine. Those who ran away and took shelter at Bangladesh refugee camps share a similarly miserable fate.

INDONESIAN Ambassador to Myanmar Ito Sumardi had the rare chance of seeing the Maungdaw and Rathedaung Districts in Rakhine State, Myanmar. On Monday two weeks ago, Ito and a number of foreign diplomats went to those two territories worst affected by the ethnic conflict. "There is massive infrastructure damage. Houses in some villages are completely burnt down," Ito observed.
