As the 2012 U.S. presidential election was winding down to its final weeks, one of the world's most celebrated polling organizations, Gallup, declared incumbent candidate Barack Obama trailing the challenger Mitt Romney by a one-point edge. However, as we all now know, Obama went on to win the election by nearly four percentage points. The five-point error created considerable embarrassment for Gallup, as well as bringing into
