THE city, said philosopher Richard Sennett in The Fall of Public Man, is a “theatrum mundi,” the great theater of the world. The city is a huge stage where performances and actions are enacted by citizens who in that instance are also the actors on the stage. This notion looks upon social life and at the same time at the esthetics of that life. Everybody is an artist, every citizen is an actor.

Sennett would be pleased to see young p
