THE construction on the two-storey house is incomplete. The walls still need to go up, the red bricks laid, and the dirt floors are everywhere. A pile of building materials fills the front of the house at 13 Jalan Minyak Raya, in Duren Tiga, South Jakarta.

But the roof has already been placed over the house built on 400 square metres of land. The ground floor will be used to accommodate a two-car garage, a guest room, the main bedroom a
