ON the subject of the controversial US Naval Medical Research Unit No. 2, a.k.a Namru-2 in Jakarta, the man of the moment is US Navy Captain Trevor R. Jones. As director of Namru-2, Jones is the top official responsible for all of the laboratory’s research.

When Jones first appeared in public, at a press conference held at the US embassy to clarify conflicting reports on Namru-2 last week, almost all of the questions were directed at him. At
