ISRAEL’S aggression in Gaza recalls us to the internal conflict between Hamas and Fatah. Since Hamas won the parliamentary elections in 2006, the dominance of Fatah has eroded considerably. Yet since 1967, it was the biggest faction and most powerful political party in Palestine.

Backed by the nationalist group and to some degree by the socialists, Fatah is known to be moderate in its views, particularly when compared to Hamas, which has tende
