China is requesting changes in the financing of the 10,000 MW electricity project. This possible future delay in the electricity supply will be saved by weak economic growth. Middle Eastern investors are one alternative.

WARM rays beamed down from the sun on Friday morning, two weeks ago. Rudiantara, the Deputy CEO of the state electricity company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN), was flying out to China from Jakarta’s Soekarno-Hatta international airport. At his destination, senior officials from the China Export Import Bank were already waiting for him. Rudiantara, who was accompanied by two other PLN officials, explained the purpose of his trip.
