Two parties promoted Christian identity but are now courting followers of other religions for their membership.

STEFANUS Roy Rening was deliriously happy. The party he led, the Indonesian Democratic Party of Devotion (PKDI), passed the verification test by the General Elections Commission (KPU) last June. The party became the sole party out of six new parties carrying the Christian banner, with the right to compete in the 2009 General Elections. “This is the fruit of five years of hard labor,” he said.
