THE fall in Philadelphia welcomed Boediono and his daughter, Ratriana Ekarini in 1990. This was Boediono’s first visit to the city in the state of Pennsylvania on America’s east coast since receiving his doctorate in economics from Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania in 1979. By then, Boediono had become Deputy Chairman for Fiscal & Monetary Affairs at the National Development Planning Board (Bappenas).
