To the police, Gayus Tambunan admitted his role in ‘solving’ some tax issues of Bakrie companies. His network covered several points inside the tax directorate. So far, no one has been indicted for this felony, other than Gayus.

A GUEST arrived one evening in early 2008. Alone, the man entered the lobby of the Cempaka Mas Apartments in Cempaka Putih, Central Jakarta. Gayus Halomoan Tambunan, a mid-level government worker at the Tax Directorate General at the Finance Department, came down from his 11th floor room and greeted the guest.
