The broadcasts of TPI are no longer educational, as the television station’s name would suggest. It is now seen more as a channel for dangdut music.

EVERY 7pm, Muhammad Athala Fawaztaqie sits quietly in front of the television. This kindergarten student always waits for the Upin-Ipin cartoon to come on. “He will cry if the station is changed,” said Naning, the child’s mother, on Wednesday last week.
