Ministers Yahya Muhaimin and Al Hilal Hamdi have been dismissed from the National Mandate Party for refusing to resign their cabinet posts. It's the latest episode in a slow movement within the party away from its pluralistic origins.

On a misty morning at around 6:10am, Andi Mapetahang Fatwa called at Yahya Muhaimin's ministerial residence. The host welcomed him with mixed feelings. "Sorry, but I cannot take a decision," the education minister told Fatwa, a leading light in the National Mandate Party (PAN).
