A BRIGHT-RED Daihatsu Ayla was on display at the front premises of Asco Daihatsu, a car dealership in South Jakarta. Signs advertising instalments of Rp1 million a month had been installed around the fuel-efficient car. At first glance, people assume that the instalments were indeed Rp1 million a month. "But they can be up to Rp1.7 million," revealed Agustina, a customer relations officer at the dealership, on Tuesday two weeks ago. "It's our way of enticing customers in."
Showroom events, which are held every Saturday, are another way of promoting sales. Customers who buy a Xenia get a Rp1 million shopping voucher. "We are more focused on selling the Xenia," Agustina explained. There is also the 'Choose Daihatsu & Draw a Prize' competition, with Rp1 billion, 12 kilograms of gold and 120 Ayla cars to be won. However, this promotional event, which will run throughout September and December, is somewhat different, in that all Daihatsu agents in Indonesia are participating.
