Into Africa

A 99-meter building stood proudly in the center of Addis Ababa. At the beginning of this year, the Director of African Affairs at the Indonesian Foreign Ministry Lasro Simbolo, visited the tallest building in Africa, located in Ethiopia's capital. He stared in wonder at the headquarters of the African Union Center. "The building was a gift from the Chinese government," Lasro said, two weeks ago.

Located on the edge of Roosevelt Road, the building stands on 50,000 square meters of land. Constructed between 2007 and 2011, the grandest building in the entire African continent cost US$200 million. Every single cent was from the Chinese government. "This is evidence of China's friendship with Africa," Lasro explained.
