The conference held in Geneva, Switzerland, on November 2-4, 1967, marked a major change in post-Sukarno economic policymaking. As State Minister for the Economy, Finance and Industry, Sultan Hamengkubuwono IX led the Indonesian delegation to meet with European and American businessmen. The Indonesian government sought to recover the foreign capital that had been 'kicked out' by Sukarno.
