Compared to last year, Arif Mulya has been spending more time at sea. As head chef aboard the Lembu Buana I vessel, he often sailed outside Java. The barge that usually sails twice a year now does so four times a year.

Most recently, Arif plans to sail from Tanjung Mas Port, Semarang, to upstream Mahakam river. "The barge will carry 4,000 cubic of meranti wood," he said at the end of October. That was why Arif was busy shopping for groceries at Semarang's Pasar Johar before the ship sailed.
