Even though National Police Chief Gen. Badrodin Haiti will not retire until July, the list of candidates to replace him has begun to circulate. At Trunojoyo, where the National Police headquarters is located, the buzz is that the names of nine three-star police generals have been submitted to President Joko Widodo as candidates for the next National Police chief.
Edi Hasibuan, a member of the National Police commission, said the candidates might be chosen in May. At this time, the commission is putting together a team to select the candidates. "They will be selected, and not necessarily all of those names will be sent to the President," said Edi, who is a candidate to become a member of the commission for the upcoming period.
