A Lot of Lobbying for Rosneft
A photograph of Pertamina CEO Dwi Soetjipto together with Igor Ivanovich Sechin, his counterpart at Rosneft, was publicly circulated three weeks ago. It had been leaked to a few reporters in Sochi, Russia. The photo showed the two signing something, witnessed by State-Owned Enterprises (SOE) Minister Rini Soemarno.
That photograph was taken in Room 777 of the Radisson BluResort and Congress Center at Sochi, after President Joko Widodo met with Igor Sechin. According to sources at Sochi, the moment was captured when Rosneft and Pertamina signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the construction of an oil refinery in Tuban, East Java. However, speaking to Indonesian reporters who accompanied the President on the trip to Sochi, a staff member of the Presidential Palace warned the media not to publish the photograph.
