Judge Dwiarso Budi Santiarto agreed to be interviewed by Tempo last week. The interview was conducted during the judge’s hour-long Transjakarta bus trip home. He was interviewed by Tempo reporter, Gadi Makitan.

There have been mixed reactions to the Basuki verdict. How did you face public protests every time a hearing took place?

The pressure was great, but many policemen were present. It was no problem. I believe in the One Above.
