Strange Sentencing

Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) was found guilty of blasphemy and sentenced to two years in prison. The judge¡¯s sentencing was more than what the prosecution sought, who had asked that Basuki be sentenced to one year imprisonment with two years probation. The judge also ¡°re-imposed¡± the article on blasphemy, which the prosecution had found to be unproven.

Controversial Statement

"There is no need to wonder anymore what will happen. If Ahok is not elected, ah, for sure the program will be discontinued. I am (in office) until October 2017. So don’t believe (what) people (say). So if in your heart you, ladies and gentlemen, (feel that) you cannot vote for me, (because you are) deceived (by those quoting) Chapter 5, Verse 51 (of the Qur’an) and so forth, that is your right."
