TENGKU Amir Hamzah asked his older brother, Tengku Abdullah Hod, who was studying medicine in Holland, to return to Langkat, North Sumatra, via a letter in 1945. "Come home to your country, dedicate yourself to your homeland and the people who greatly require your service," Amir wrote to Abdullah Hod.

Danil Ahmad, in the book T. Amir Hamzah (2005), outlined Amir’s letter to his brother. Danil learned about the letter directly from Hod. "After rea
