A representative of Sultan Mahmud Abdul Jalil Rahmad Shah presented a report that troubled the ruler of Langkat. After a week-long investigation in Batavia-today Jakarta, the man returned to Binjai in East Sumatra confirming Dutch intelligence information that the Sultan’s nephew, Tengku Amir Hamzah, was actively involved in a number of political activities.
