THE government detected that the protests against the presidential election’s outcome on May 21-22 had been planned to end in riots. To anticipate the worst scenario, the police apprehended a number of individuals with more arrested after the riots. Still more were caught on the government’s radar but have not been investigated.

Graduated from the Military Academy in 1978. Former general commander of the Special Forces (Kopassus) and former commander of the Iskandar Muda Military Command in Aceh before retiring in 2010.
Police findings:
• Had a long-barreled rifle, two magazines, and a silencer sent from Aceh to Jakarta.
• Ordered to surround the General Elections Commission and the State Palace, as shown in a circulating video.
