HOEGENG Iman Santoso was staying in the modest home of his aunt, Fathimah Moethalib, when news of a convoy of Japanese troops passing through caused a stir among their neighbors in Jalan Kernolong, Senen subdistrict, Jakarta, in early March 1942.
