Megawati Sukarnoputri got one unwelcome gift among all the congratulations on her appointment as president. It was a demonstration outside the vice-presidential palace in Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan, where she was still working from. The day was last Friday and the issue was freedom of the press.

The protesters were journalists from the Indonesian Press Community. This is an alliance of leading press lobbies, including the Alliance of Independen
