INDONESIA came under the international spotlight when a riot broke out at the end of a match between Arema FC and Persebaya Surabaya at the Kanjuruhan Stadium in Malang, East Java, Saturday, October 1. Police attack on Arema’s supporters and spectators resulted in at least 131 fatalities. The Kanjuruhan tragedy is the second worst soccer incident after the 1964 tragedy in Lima, Peru, which claimed the lives of 328 people.
