To the Bitter End at Senayan

The National Coalition has made a clean sweep of the DPR commission leadership positions, while the People’s Coalition intends to form its own shadow commissions. This is a crisis that has become a time bomb for SBY.

The seats in the House of Representatives’ (DPR) chamber were empty and deserted. Of the around 700 available seats, only 309 were occupied. Certainly, voices of DPR members could be heard here and there, interrupting on this or that issue. But there was no meaningful opposition at last Wednesday’s meeting. Session Chairman, Soetardjo Soerjogoeritno from the PDI-P, found it easy to rap his gavel.
