THE winds of change seem to be wailing for the Golkar Party. It was only six years ago that Akbar Tandjung recalibrated the Banyan Tree Party to weather the reformasi political storm, when in the deft hands of its general chairman, Golkar gained a new lease of life. Formed by the New Order regime, the party quickly became fluent in the language of reform. A party that had earlier been subject to verbal abuse was suddenly a bright success, taking
