THE oil wells are now eventually drying out. Ten years ago, the 15 oil fields in operation throughout Indonesia were fully capable of sucking up as much as 1.6 million barrels of oil per day. Now, the majority of the wells inherited from the colonial era have begun to run dry. In addition, according to Hardi Prasetya, an adviser to the Minister of Energy & Natural Resources, there is now little or no new investment in the oil exploration sector.
