NIAS, 40 hours after an earthquake. It was dusk when several journalists, including myself, who were traveling by a CASA light aircraft, landed on the island. Darkness slowly gained the upper hand. There was no electricity, neither was there any lantern. Only the sparkle of candles and oil lamps that appeared in some corners. Gunung Sitoli, the capital of Nias Regency, has become a dead town like in comics. Weird, scary, yet mournful.
