Fearful Five-Year Cycles

The first cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever were reported in Surabaya and Jakarta, 36 years ago, when the disease attacked 58 people, 24 of whom died. Since then, dengue fever has been reappearing in the country by following a typical pattern of behavior, exploding once in five years.
