Merging Okinawa and Java
Two traditional dances that share a similar background are combined. By reading and recording motion, a dialog was born between the two.

ON Thursday, August 20, at the Japan Foundation in Jakarta, a dance instructor from Hawaii attempted to unite choreography from two dances: that of the Javanese and Okinawa traditional dances. At first he presented three Okinawan dances, then three Javanese dances from Yogyakarta, and finally three Oki-Jawa dance works named for the choreographic acculturation of Okinawa and Java.
