IN October 2003, Air France and KLM, two airline symbols of France and the Netherlands, merged. The merger made them the biggest flight operator in Europe.
Merger movements started in the 1980s. It began with the alliance between Northwest and KLM, followed by United Airlines and Lufthansa, SAS, Air Canada, Thai Airways, Air New Zealand, and Ansett Australia.
