The hunt for Indonesian local banks by foreign investors is really heating up. Financiers from Asia and the Middle East are all lining up to take part.

BANK Halim Indonesia is by no means a famous bank. Its assets were only Rp520 billion as of June this year and the head office is located in an old business district in Surabaya, East Java. In spite of this, world-class banks are currently taking a close look at this bank owned by Rachman Halim from the Gudang Garam cigarette company.
