The upgrade of tax offices has produced an increase in revenues. It’s now difficult for officials and taxpayers to play games.

THE Central Jakarta main tax services office in Jalan Tebet Raya appeared to be calm and relaxed on Thursday afternoon last week. There were no queues to be seen. Out of the five service lockets, taxpayers were being served at only three of them.

Bear in mind that this was still the 16th of the month. Normally, tax offices are busy in the run-up to the 20th of each month because this is the deadline for monthly tax returns (SPTs) to be made. And
